was sitting in the bus today when i started thinking about stuff.
there was this big group of students from a secondary school that i think i should not name.
they actions and behaviour made me start to ponder what will happen to our next generation.
it's really a worrying sign as you see the social standards in Singapore plummeting all the way down.
every few minutes, vulgarities will just 'explode' from their mouths.
vulgarities now are like a necessity in life, like 'eat', 'sleep' and 'talk'.
imagine in 20 years time, those words may even more commonly and widely used without any consideration.
then you will wonder exactly where is the social etiquette that we are suppose to have.
is there really a need to use such words?
what does all these show others?
that we conform from the American way of living?
can we not differentiate between what is good to learn and what is not?
is there really a need to follow suit what the Americans do just because their media is portraying that this image is good and cool?
can't we just have our own Singaporean culture where everything is more acceptable in our own environment?
where people accept us for who we are and not who we are trying to be?
it's just such an irony.
we care so much about our appearance, but what actually determines how people think of us is the way we speak and act in public, and yet we're not doing anything to make sure it is portrayed in the right manner.
these scenarios are so rampant.
you can see them everywhere, in buses, train and even in schools.
my gosh.
the next generation? what will happen to them? you really wonder.
